Hot, Red And Itchy (Updated)

I am itchy from head to toe.

Bailey has little red bumps all over his legs and butt. The school just called and said they now cover his face and arms.

Sophie has a fever.

Put us all together and I think we equal chicken pox. Off to the doctor to find out.

UPDATED
It turns out we only have a case of foot-hand-and-mouth disease. Tylenol for the fevers, some cream for the itchiness and avoiding spicy and acidic foods as well as lots of rest and liquids and we should be as good as new by the weekend.

My husband had chicken pox when our kids had them about 30 yrs ago. I hope yours is a mild case (his wasn't and he got very ill)

Oh Trisha, it can be terrible for adults. Put socks on the kids hands so they don't scratch and I hope you all feel better real soon. Benidril and baking soda paste. It will be nice to get it over with before the holidays. :)

Oh bum! Second time of trying to comment - I'm not very good at this...

I am so glad that it isn't chicken pox, Trisha, though HFM is horrible too. Sending soothing thoughts your way. Get lots of rest if you can - not very likely, eh?

You can vaccinate for chicken pox here in Japan, Kili! We chose to vaccinate our elder son as he has horrible eczema and I thought it would be horrible for him to itch upon his itches. By the time the second son came along, there was some doubt about vaccinating for chicken pox as the immunity can weaken leaving an adult unprotected. So we wavered, and while wavering he got it - problem solved! Ah well...

Sounds scary. But glad everything can be treated with Tylenol, cream and lots of water and rest.

Be well, all three of you.

HFM is a major bummer. My son had it and he itched so badly. We used my hair brush to scratch his feet! :)
Hope you all are feeling better! Amy

I should say he used instead of we. After seeing my brush used in such a manner it permenantly became used for scratching.Sort of hard to brush your nice clean hair after it's been used to scratch sores on feet. Amy
