Back Home

I have trouble putting the last few weeks into words. It all still leaves a knot in my stomach and a lump in my throat.

Last week we laid my sister, Michelle, to rest.

Last week there were so many phone calls from family and friends.

Last week the refrigerator was stuffed full of homemade desserts, cheese and lunch meat trays and other foods from family and friends.

Last week we wondered what in the world we would do with all flowers from family and friends.

Last week seems so surreal, so close but so far. . . . . .

Trisha, I am so sorry for your loss. This is one thing that definitely makes it so hard living far away from family. Please take care of yourself. You are in my thoughts.

I don't think there is anything that I could say or do which would make this any easier for you. But I do know exactly what you are going through... it will be exactly one year that we lost my brother on May 2. One year has already gone passed but it still feels like yesterday - the lump in my throat, the tears in my eyes, the longiness has not yet faded. You and your family are in my thoughts.

I also just wanted to say, please try to stay positive - it is a very difficult thing go through without your family's support. I was lucky enough to be back home when it happened, but I had only just come back. I felt so guilty, and my pain was so much worse, because of the little time we had spent together up until then.

Wishing you peace and grace during what has to be one of the most difficult times for you.
