First Thing .....

First thing yesterday morning, I thought, gotta be sure to buy some toothpaste today. I don't think I can scrape, push, squeeze anymore outta the tube we have now. Thankfully, I was able to brush my teeth yesterday- twice.

First thing this morning, I thought, damn, I forgot to but toothpaste and I threw the other tube away last night because it was really, truly empty (believe me- I even had Bailey jump up and down on it for good measure). I rummaged through the bathroom cabinet, on my hands and knees, finding a tube of hair gel, a tube of diaper rash cream, a tube of lotion, a tube of make up remover but that tube of toothpaste eluded me. Finally, I found it, a small, hotel one time only tube of toothpaste way in the back. Thank god Hubs always takes those kinds things!! The lid was crusty and it was hard to twist off, but twist, I did and relent,it did.

I squeezed some onto my brush and breathed a sigh of relief. I was happily brushing away when I glanced down at the tube. The name of the hotel was printed on the tube. The name of the hotel where we spent the night after our wedding reception in Japan. In 2002. 2002!!! Oh well, at least I had something to brush with and a huge motivating factor to make sure to buy a new tube today.

Yuck! Does toothpaste go bad??

Hopefully you can get some stuff asap!

Heres a funny story to make you feel better. A couple of months when I visted my fiancee I was going to brush my tooth and looking for the toothpaste when I spotted a bottle with the English word "whiting" on it. "Ok! " I thought I've never seen this brand before but I'll try. It was not until I had been brushing for about a minute until I realized there was something wrong with the taste. I took a closer look at the bottle and saw it was face wash.. GROSS. Anyways I don't think I swallowed any because I wasn't sick or anything, but my mouth just felt weird..

So, shame on me for not paying more attention. But really.. this would only happen in Japan lol

Ewwwww! We have a box full of hotel supplied stuff....hub comes home from trips with all sorts But come to think of it I've never checked the dates of them (and he's been accumulating them over 13 odd years!). Might be time for a clean out.
Don't forget the toothpaste!!!

That must be a Japanese thing - my fiance and his mother always have the free hotel stuff stored in their bathroom!!

LOL. Ah. You are a woman I need to someday meet and sit down to a cup of coffee with.

I've been doing the same with "must buy paper towels" and sure enough, yesterday after the last one was gone: kids spill drinks on the floor not once but twice and then. . . when I peer down at the recipe I am making for dinner that evening it says, "POINT: while the chicken is cooking, constantly asorb the extra oil in the pan by swishing a paper towel around." Riiiiight. No paper towels though. It was pouring down rain outside and it was REALLY cold. Did not want to drag DD#2 to the store with me and if I left the kids at home they would fight. (remember I don't drive, so going to the store means hoofing it.) So I used kleenex. Did you know that kleenex, once it has asorbed a bit of hot grease starts to kind of evaporate? Except for the bits that stick to chicken.

You asked so I will tell you. If you have any old tubes of toothpaste lying around get rid of them. It is not that it tasted so bad, it was so, so gritty- like I had eaten sand or something and it took forever to get that gritty, sandy taste outta my mouth. Gagging just thinking about it!
