Wheels In Motion

I just made the call.

I didn't want to do it.

But, it is done now. No turning back......... no turning back.

With the constant stream of sickness around here and all the problems at daycare, I had to give up volunteering on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I didn't want to do, but right now for our family, this is for the best.

My stint as a volunteer would have ended by May, but with Bailey moving to pre-school in April it just didn't fit. Bailey could have started pre-school in May, but I was worried about how hard it would be to make friends a month after everyone else had already started. Plus I want to get him out of daycare ASAP.

We are considering two pre-schools. One is a Catholic pre-school that comes highly recommended from several mothers in this building not only from an academic standpoint, but also from the standpoint of helping the kids get along with one another and experience many types of cultures and people. The other is the one closest to our apartment and instead of focusing so much on studying, the focus is on physical fitness.

I went to visit the Catholic one yesterday. The school is large with it's own swimming pool, potato patch and a huge playground. Every month there is some special event from a Christmas play in December to a Sport's Festival in the autumn and so on. I was impressed with the facility.

I want to check out the other school sometime this week and hopefully make a decision by next Monday. There will be uniforms, lunchboxes, indoor shoes, an art smock and several hundred other things to buy.

And it looks like Bailey is headed off to pre-school.

Both places sounds so lovely and large enough that the events at the other place would not happen. Maybe you can volunteer at the new place?

you know, these are just the years where committing to anything outside of your kids needs to be flexible. that's a big step, finding preschool!

you have to do what you believe is best for your family.

I teach at a Catholic youchien and I am always very impressed by everything there and if we are still in Japan when Joey goes to pre-school, I will try hard to find somewhere similar for him. As everyone has said, we all have to do what is best for our kids and he will have a fabulous time at pre-school and you will wonder what you were worried about!

Hi Trisha, B goes to a Catholic yochien, as you know and we love it. Many activities, teachers are wonderful. It's where we will send Noah too, when he gets older.

I think that is downright awful Bailey is getting bitten! Poor little guy! You must not be too pleased about that. I think you should send Bailey wherever you think is best. You're his mom, you got his best interest at heart and just trust your instincts! : )

And try not to get writers cramp from writing his name on every single thing of his at school, ha ha ha. Yes you will have to write Bailey's first and last name on each and every crayon, writing tablet, glue, scissors etc etc. Your hand will be aching, ha ha ha!

Good luck, kiddo! And if you need anything drop me a line okay : )

That preschool you have already visited sounds great! I hope you find a good fit for him!

And it sounds like you did what you needed to do for your family! ;-)
