Acknowledging It So I Can Move On And Be Happy

Sometimes you wonder if you feel too much,
If you are too sensitive by letting them get under your skin,
Irritate you, scratch at your heart and tear you down,
You move toward the light, but the light moves,
And you wince in pain,
Because they know your weakness,
You are just like them, no better, no worse,
Just different because your skin is white,
Different because you don't cover your mouth when you laugh,
Different because that is how they will always see you,
You do it different because you can,
Inside knowing that you are a nail that sticks up,
And they can't wait to hammer you down.

oh my Trisha!!!
I have these same feelings as a southern gal living in Ohio...it is a slight culture shock for me, but I can't imagine what it must be like for you!!
When I open my mouth to speak, they always get this look on their face and I know the next question...where are You from?? Grrrrrr...America...and you???
Hope it gets better for ya!!

Don't let them get you down. Revel in your uniqueness!! You are a very special person and "they" would be lucky for the chance to get to know you....I know I have been.
