Hand Me Downs

A book I remember from my childhood, told the story of a fish and his new home. Trying to find a good place for him, the owners had to re-arrange and then re-arrange some more. They decided to put the fish in a vase. Then they had to move the flowers into the cookie jar. Then they had to move the cookies into a chip bag. Then they had to move the chips into a plastic butter tub and on and on and on. That's what I feel like I have been doing these last few days, except I ate the cookies and gave the flowers to a friend.

Up until last night, Bailey was still sleeping in a baby bed. He didn't want to move into a big boy bed and with potty training I thought I shouldn't push him too much. Now, he seems to have the potty thing pretty much under control and we need the bed for Sophie, so we moved him into a futon.

Sophie has been happily sleeping in her Amby Baby Hammock but things are getting pretty snug so we are planning on moving Sophie into the regular baby bed.

Last night was Bailey's test run. I was worried that with his new found freedom he would refuse to stay in his room, but he went to bed and stayed there all night long. He woke up crying once as he had somehow gotten himself wedged under a toy shelf and woke up another time to use the bathroom. He did much better than I expected.

Today is Sophie's test run. I put her down for her nap in the baby bed (she usually naps in the swing) and although she fussed for a while, she is fast asleep now.

All that is left to do is find someplace to put Sophie's old bed. Let's see, if I put the refrigerator in the bathroom and the washing machine on the veranda........

Isn't that the way it goes! Hope they both adjust well. Loved the way you wrote this...and ended with the frig in the bathroom.

I do this everytime I clean. It seems I end up with twice as much to put away after I clean out that closet. hehe! Kind of grows and multiplies on me. :)

I always struggle with milestones and the kids getting bigger. It's so bittersweet. I need to move my Feisty into a big girl bed, but I don't really want to because then the crib is vacant.....

Sounds like Bailey did great! Good for him!!

Thanks so much for your help in my quest for 125 comments! I made it thanks to you and your help!

awww it is hard to make these transitions! Usually it is harder on me than Becca!

Good luck with the bed moving!
